Starting this upcoming fall semester, Houston Community College – Katy (HCC), will offer a new degree in logistics and global supply chain management, a growing field in the region.
The multi-faceted program offers students the opportunity to obtain either a Level 1 certificate or an Associate of Applied Sciences degree that will equip them with skills needed in all industries including, business logistics, operations, project management and supply chain technology.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau of Labor and Statistics, professions in logistics and global supply chain management are projected to experience a remarkable 30 percent job growth within the next decade. Recognizing this trend, HCC – Katy's new program is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in this field. The program will also further the Houston region's position as a global logistics hub.
Shari Carter, program director of Logistics & Global Supply Chain, Maritime Transportation, and International Business at HCC, highlights the program's advantages for newcomers and current professionals in the logistics supply chain. Whether individuals are new to the field or seeking industry certifications to enhance their skill sets, this program addresses the industry's evolving needs. It encompasses logistics supply chain technology proficiencies, including material handling, software knowledge, and the ability to optimize operations amidst rapid technological advancements.
HCC reports that graduates who embark on the program can expect entry-level positions to offer an average salary of $60,165, mid-level positions earning up to $104,610, and a potential salary of $168,726 for seasoned professionals at the senior level.
HCC's commitment to fostering talent extends beyond logistics and supply chain management. Alongside the new logistics and global supply chain management program, HCC’s main campus will offer two new bachelor’s degrees in applied technology this fall in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics and Applied Science in Healthcare Management.
By offering these programs, HCC – Katy aims to broaden Houston's talent workforce, empowering individuals to make meaningful contributions to the thriving local economy.
