Boasting a culturally diverse culinary scene bounded by renowned chefs, award-winning restaurants and unique flavors, Houston is a premier destination for food enthusiasts.   

Several Houston restaurants topped Texas Monthly’s annual list of best new Texas restaurants, with Katami taking first place. Eleven Houston restaurants and chefs were recently named James Beard semi-finalists. Such prestigious recognition highlights the city’s perpetual strive to honor the city’s diverse palate. 

As Houston’s dynamic culinary landscape continues to see success, the demand for unique food experiences has increased, fueling a surge in new restaurant openings and concept dining spaces.  

A 12,000-square-foot, three level food hall dubbed Conservatory Galleria recently joined Uptown’s bustling culinary scene. Transforming the former Club Roxy space, the new food hall offers an array of cuisines, featuring 11 vendors, including Cvche Kitchen, Clutch City Grill, SeoulSide Wings and Rice and Thrive Juices.  

The highly anticipated PostScript HTX made its debut in River Oaks/Upper Kirby, elevating a night out with luxe, velvet interiors and a pink hand-painted grand piano. The lavish space offers eclectic menus, ranging from toasty brunch, shareable platters loaded with steaks and chops, a cold seafood tower, and a full caviar service.  

Katy’s beloved Phat Eatery will open its second location in The Woodlands. Situated in a former Fuddruckers, the Malaysian restaurant’s 7,800 square feet will provide more space for chef-owner Alex Au-Yeung to prepare more dim sum, Cantonese barbecue, and bian dang, described as a Taiwanese-style bento box. 

Houston’s East End is transforming old industrial warehouses into a “food-maker campus,” which will offer new restaurants, a bar and coffee shop and flexible kitchen space for short-term tenants.  

Amidst the wave of new restaurant openings, Houston has also become a magnet for food festivals, attracting hundreds of people from across the country who come to experience the city’s unique flavors. 

FoodieLand, an open-air food festival, will feature over 175 multicultural culinary pioneers at NRG Park from April 5 - 7. The festival will also feature a diverse selection of cocktails and beverages, carnival games, live musical performances and local artisans.
