Houston may see a big leap in tech jobs in the year ahead, according to a new survey.
Roughly 80% of information technology decision-makers in Houston surveyed by Robert Half International said they plan to expand their tech teams in 2019. That’s more than any other city in the nation, according to the report, which polled more than 2,800 U.S. decision-makers.
Of the 100 Houston respondents surveyed in the report, 74 have already budgeted to bring on additional project-based professionals during 2019. The respondents came from a wide array of industries where the influence of technology is growing—from energy to health care.
The Robert Half report also listed the top technology skills in immediate demand in Houston: cloud security, cybersecurity, cloud computing roles, cloud architecture, business intelligence and mobile development.
Charlotte, N.C. and Phoenix, Az. followed Houston as the cities with the most robust tech hiring plans, according to the report.
The Partnership’s 2019 Houston Employment Forecast anticipates 71,000 net new jobs will be created in Houston in the coming year, led by growth in health care, construction and administrative services. Click here to see the full report.
