T. Mark Kelly
Mark Kelly is a Partner of the global law firm Vinson & Elkins LLP. From January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2021, Mark served as Chairman of the firm. He maintains an active practice concentrated on mergers and acquisitions for public and private companies, capital markets, and corporate governance. Mark’s clients include numerous public and private companies, major investment banks, and venture capital firms in a diverse range of industries, including energy and oilfield services, gas marketing, manufacturing, insurance, medical technology, and shipping.
Mark also has experience advising boards of directors at Fortune 100 companies. He has been named to the NACD Directorship 100: Governance Professionals, a list of the most influential people in the boardroom community, for the past six years.
Mark is Past Chair and a current member of the Executive Committee of the Houston Museum of Natural Science, a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Visitors of MD Anderson Cancer Center, a director of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, a member of the Executive Committee of the Greater Houston Partnership, and a director of Attorneys’ Liability Assurance Society (ALAS). He is a past director of the State Bar of Texas, past president of the Houston Bar Association, and past chair of the Houston Bar Foundation.
Mark graduated from Texas A&M University (B.B.A., Accounting, magna cum laude, 1978) and Southern Methodist University (J.D., 1981), where he served as Editor of the SMU Law Review.
